Governance and Corporate Culture: Setting the ‘Right’ Tone

This morning (11 October 2018) the Governance Forum convened for an interesting session on Governance and Corporate Culture: Setting the ‘Right’ Tone. Participants heard from three experienced speakers on the topic, including Catherine Heaney, Chairperson of the National Museum of Ireland, Jacob Eisenberg, Associate Professor at UCD Smurfit Graduate School of Business, and Niall Fitzgerald, Head of Ethics and Governance at Chartered Accountants Ireland. The session explored issues such as defining and making sense of culture, the importance and influence of values in terms of culture, including ensuring that the behaviour of staff is aligned with those values. The session also explored the importance and influence of the Board and senior teams in shaping, influencing and living the desired culture and values.
