Institute of Public Administration, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4
The first Board Secretary Network event of 2020 will focus on the area of board evaluation and how an evaluation can form the basis and/or context for improving board effectiveness. This is arguably the case whether the evaluation is conducted by way of self-assessment or external evaluation. A key actor at the point of evaluation and in using its findings to support improved effectiveness is the Board Secretary. This interactive round table will consider perspectives, including those of the two experienced speakers, on board evaluation, including:
The methodology to be used by a Board Secretary in a self-assessment evaluation
How to get the most out of an external evaluation
Typical dos, don’ts and pitfalls with board evaluation exercises
How to engage the Board on the findings of a board evaluation and required next-steps
Good board practices
Participants are welcome to raise any other matters for discussion with their peers (either before or during the event)
Please contact the Network convener, Tom Ward with your suggestions.
