Our next Chairpersons’ Network event will take place on Thursday, 8 December 2022 (11.00 – 1.00) at the IPA. This will be an in-person event and a valuable opportunity for peer-to-peer discussion and networking. Please note that the event is reserved for Board Chairpersons only.
Our plan for the event is have a keynote speaker and topic, followed by an open agenda session for members to raise matters of interest or current challenges, with discussion and experiences shared. Lunch will be provided, and attendees should let us know in advance if they have any special dietary requirements.
Our keynote speaker will be Helen Brophy, the new Director General of the IPA. Helen has 30 years’ experience in wide range of chief executive, director and non-executive director level roles in in public, international, private, family-owned business, not-for-profit and NGO sectors. Prior to taking up her role at the IPA in October, Helen was Director of UCD Smurfit Executive Development at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Ireland’s only FT-ranked provider of executive education, which she led for over ten years to reach 31st position globally in the 2022 Financial Times Executive Education Open Enrolment Rankings.
Helen will engage Network members on the topic of Looking towards 2023 & beyond - The Role of the Board in Organisational Change & Transformation which will focus on the important role played by the Board within the current climate of change and uncertainty together with the challenges faced by organisations including staff retention, talent recruitment, new ways of working and changing cultural contexts, prompting questions and discussion as to the effective role that the Board can play in terms of value-add and influence. It will also consider the attitudes and behaviours necessary at Board level and the critically important role of the Chairperson.
