Key Business Risks and Assurances
19 October 2023

The nature of modern society and the environment in which public bodies and public benefit entities operate is arguably generating a greater degree of uncertainty than heretofore. If risk is defined as the effect of uncertainty on objectives, modern uncertainties can generate both negative (threat) and positive (opportunity) implications. Take, for example, technology and the threat of cyber infiltration and attack on the one hand, and on the other, the growing benefits for organisations in harnessing the potential of new systems and technologies.
This Forum event will bring together three expert speakers to explore the theme of key business risks and assurances as 2024 beckons. They will help to consider key issues such as:
- Key business risks for 2024 and beyond
- 'Poly-crisis' - the effect of multiple, simultaneous strategic risks
- Key opportunity areas and enablers
- Systems and cyber risks and resilience
- Technology and its implications for auditing and assurances
Our three guest speakers will be:
- Derek Jamieson, Director of Regions, Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors
- Vincent Teo, Partner, Head of Public Sector & Government Services, Crowleys DFK
- John Lynn, ICT Manager, Commission for Regulation of Utilities
