The Forum devotes an event to the key areas of Talent Management, Diversity and Inclusion given their importance in modern organisations,  finding their way increasingly onto board and senior team agendas.

A recurring theme amongst public sector and public benefit entities is difficulties in attracting and retaining talent, which can lead to material turnover rates and hinder the achievement of objectives. This takes place at a time when the modern workplace has changed quite significantly post-pandemic with remote and hybrid working and changed dynamics, within teams and organisations.

Given the financial limitations upon public sector and public benefit entities, attracting and managing talent calls for innovative solutions and building modern, innovative workplaces and a positive culture. This includes a culture which embraces equality, diversity and inclusion.

Against this backdrop,  three expert speakers will consider questions such as:

James Connington

James Connington is a Senior Lecturer in The Whitaker School of Government & Management at The Institute of Public Administration (IPA www.ipa.ie ) Dublin, Ireland. He has been with IPA for over 25 years. He is the Director of the Professional Diploma in Human Rights and Equality (PDRHE) at IPA, a level 8 Special Purpose Award accredited by National University of Ireland (NUI). James was involved in designing the programme in conjunction with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).

In addition, he lectures on a range of educational programmes and provides consultancy and project work in Ireland and internationally. His main areas of focus are human rights & dignity in the workplace, non- discriminatory practice in HR and recruitment and selection. International project work has included public sector reform, training, education & consultancy projects in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Albania, Greece, Slovenia, Poland, Turkey, Lesotho as well as multiple projects across the Western Balkans region. 

Linda Allen

Linda is an experienced Talent Manager with an extensive background in the transport industry, spanning three decades.  She specialises in Talent attraction, talent development, Executive Coaching, Team coaching, Training Programme Design, and working with Women at all levels of Leadership. 

In her current role as Senior Manager of Talent and Diversity at Bus Éireann, she continues to drive excellence.

She spent the majority of her career in transport at Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, including the Head of Talent Management role where they went on to win two CIPD awards in 2021,  She was won the Rising Star award in 2021 across all the European Railways and has led on several transformative initiatives. She joined Bus Éireann in June 2021 where they went on to achieve highly commended in the Talent Management Category CIPD Awards 2022 for their work with Bus drivers and won the same category in 2023 for their work with the apprentices.

As a part-time Yoga Teacher at Barefoot Yoga, She brings balance to her professional journey.
